Before our Summer issue hits stands, we wanted to give you one last peek at the Spring registry story. In this story, we included items you want and need in your home morning, noon, and night. We had some really fabulous items on hand for our photo shoot, but as always, we weren’t able to put them all on our pages. Thanks to this online world, we can show them to you here! And don’t forget to check out the full gallery of photos from the magazine.

2 Striped plates in bright yellow and navy from Kate Spade New York.
3 Another great new pattern from Kate Spade — this set’s woven detailing lends it great texture.

When it came to shooting one of the coolest toasters we’ve ever found — because you can literally see your bread getting golden brown — we tried a few options. First, the simple shot of the empty toaster (yawn). Then, we put the bread in (sigh). Then, we tried it in between (getting better). And then I had the crazy idea to make it look as if the toast was actually popping out of the toaster. Erin and I grabbed some monofilament and laced it through the bread’s nooks and crannies. Viola! Toast puppets! We felt like marionette operators and were really happy with the final result.
