As I mentioned earlier this weekend, I spent Labor Day attending the most awesome wedding I’ve ever been to. Granted, it probably meant that the bride, groom, and both sets of parents bled money consistently for the past year, but there were some non-financial lessons to be learned as well. Here are a few:
- A forced vacation means everyone has fun. These particular nuptials were only about two hours away, but the fact that I was out of town, not worrying about getting home after the party, and in vacation mindset meant that I was in fun mode all weekend.
- Encourage bonding. This could mean planning introductions between friends and couples you think will get along, or simply getting everyone together before the big day, either at someone’s house or at a bar. If you’ve danced together once, you will dance together again.

Chrissy and Anthony are getting married next spring, and when they told their photographer, Melissa Jill, about how much they enjoy taking cooking classes together, the idea for this engagement shoot was born! Borrowing a beautiful kitchen from some friends, these two measured, poured, stirred and cuddled their way through the super fun shoot, and even managed to end the day with trays of homemade cookies. A sweet idea indeed!

Hunky actor Ryan Reynolds has been married to blonde bombshell Scarlett Johansson for two years, but the couple has kept their personal life exactly the way they want it – private.

My Favorite part of any wedding is when the bride and groom cut the cake. Its a memorable tradition that will always fun at the wedding. So I can only imagine how much fun it must be to pick out your wedding cake, connecting it with your theme and making sure it tastes great! Here’s a great sample wedding cake that was made with M&J Trims connecting with the theme of the wedding. About 90% of the cake is non-editable and small portion of the cake is editable for when the bride and groom cut the cake. Wh

Tomorrow — on Sept. 11, 2010 — I’m going to marry my high school sweetheart, James Greilick, in a cherry orchard in our hometown of Traverse City, Mich.
Many people have asked us why 9/11? To that I say, “We’re taking back the date!”
I know some people may not understand, but before it was September 11, it was our anniversary, and we’ve decided to honor that. I mean, I have been with my fiance for 12 years now. We met in the seventh grade, really started hanging out in the 10th, and that led to our first official date, Sept. 11, 1998 — long before that day became one synonymous with tragedy.
I realize it’s a slightly bittersweet thing, and we did think of changing the day we would celebrate. But finally we made a decision: We were not going to let terrorists affect our personal lives that way. Full Post…
The summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the season’s bounty. I happen to love blue flowers: They evoke everything from the cerulean sea to the bright sky, and every shade in between. Here are a few of my favorites in a bouquet we shot for the Winter 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

You can’t go wrong with periwinkle muscari — it makes the most precious boutonnieres and nosegays. Every time I make them people just can’t stop gushing over how cute they are!
I also love hyacinths. I’ve been making flower girl head wreaths, circular boutonnieres, and long necklaces for bridesmaids with it ever since Livia Cetti showed me how to take take it apart and string wire through each flower. They look so tailored and thoughtful. And
