The party, wedding and holiday season is upon us and this is prime up do time. The obvious problem is that the up do often wants to escape from its beginning of the night sculpted perfection so here are a few ideas to make sure it stays put this year:
1. Don’t wash your hair. As strange as that sounds before a night out/party, the best way of keeping hair in place is to wash it the night before a party. If you normally wash your hair every day you might not like this idea but you can freshen up your hair with the latest invention, dry shampoo, or even better, a simple sprinkling of talcum powder ruffled into the roots.
2. If you leave dressing to the last moment when getting ready to go out, then make sure the clothing you in doesn’t need to be lifted over your head – a buttoned up shirt is the perfect solution to avoiding disturbing your up-do!
3. When pinning your hair, use smaller sections so the grips you use have less work to do!
4. Spray away – have a complex up-do? Then use as many hairgrips as you possibly can, make sure they are secured tightly and don’t be afraid to use lashings of hairspray. Use a lighter spray if you don’t want your hair to look too unnatural.
5. Look but don’t touch! It can be very tempting to fiddle and try and retouch your hair once it’s done, but this will only upset it. If you start fiddling with bits of your hair, you will only find more bits you are unhappy with or think need refining – step away from the mirror, take a good look and recognize that the overall picture looks fabulous. Keep your fingers away from grips and only top up with hairspray if you think things are coming a little loose.
