There is a conundrum that every bride must face when purchasing her wedding day duds: Why spend a lot of money on something you’re only going to wear once? We know why—it’s one of the biggest days of your life! And many brides are happy to spend thousands on gowns and accessories they’ll pack away and never see again.

But brides who want to stay on budget should click over to Something Borrowed NY, a new website launching today that offers carefully selected designer veils, headpieces, and jewelry at a fraction of the cost. The catch? It’s just a rental, so you don’t get to keep it. But as the Something Borrowed girls say, unless you’re Kate Middleton, you probably won’t need to wear your tiara again. Right now, the site is just carrying bridal accessories, but they hope to include gowns in the future. To obtain these treasures, you simply order them online and ship them back after your wedding. ** Due to hard-drive failure, I am resurrecting an old blog post today, following a conversation I have had with my Husband. Fear not regular readers! Mr Apple Store has it all in hand and this be a minor glitch. Ill be back soon :) *

I am very pleased to report that the my darling boy is turning his hand back to his one true passion~ creating beautiful dresses.

My Husband graduated in fashion design from Northumbria University in 1999, and had his own Princes Trust and Arts Council funded business for 2 years, designing and producing high-fashion and bespoke ladies wear, for private clients and exclusive boutiques. The images below are from his last collection…

His dresses were always so feminine and elegant and timeless in design.

Yay! Finally, I can pack my MAC skin-care products in my carry-on without the fear of them all being thrown out by TSA agents. How, you ask? Well, MAC is downsizing its skin-care products to 3 ounces and below. Now the company’s Strobe Cream (a makeup artist favorite for highlighting skin), Fix+ (ideal for cooling off overheated skin and setting your makeup), and Green Gel Cleanser (a really refreshing face wash with soothing cucumber), along with many other items, can go with you whenever, wherever. Stash some in your bag for your destination wedding or honeymoon.

Giorgio Armani’s summer makeup collection is so heavenly, you could almost call it divine. With new glosses (in a slick, long-lasting formula), sheer lipsticks (I adore these — they give lips a juicy tint that’s so fresh), and a streamlined eyeshadow palette of essential neutrals, these items below are just too good to miss. What do you think? Would you consider using one of these for your wedding-day look?

A beautiful sunny day calls for a beautiful sunny set of photographs, by way of this charming engagement shoot captured on camera by Love My Dress Sponsor, Eliza Claire.

This couple are Marie and Simon and Eliza Claire tell us more about their special sunshine filled photoshoot…

As Marie explains…

Marie had a story in mind, based on their pre-wedding planning. Their friends would often joke about their habit of going off in Simons Austin Healey for days out, and coming home loaded up with props for the wedding…

So your best friend from college got a new job and won’t be eligible for vacation. She (he?) won’t be able to be there — do you get someone else?

A few things to consider: You could hurt someone’s feelings by making it clear they were “second best” if you ask them to substitute, and if you do get a substitute, will you hurt the original honor attendant’s feelings by making her/him feel replaceable?

Also, the MOH and the BM actually have some specific tasks. The maid of honor normally helps with the veil and bouquet, and the best man will often distribute payments on behalf of the groom while he’s busy in the receiving line. Both of them are expected to be right there, able to help at the drop of a hint. If you don’t specifically ask, the “substitute” attendants may not think they’re needed in that way.

What do you think?
