Celebrate the season with fall branches. Cut them from your own yard or purchase some from your local flower market. For lush leaves, look for maple, pear, burning bush, or rose hips. For harvest-time fruit, opt for branches laden with persimmons, pomegranates, or crab apples.

Group sprigs in large glass vases. Or, try laying single ones across your tables as inexpensive centerpieces — the result is effortless and elegant, elevated and modern.

1. Where and when should Ie begin to research engagement rings and wedding bands? When a bride begins research on engagement rings and wedding bands is a personal decision.  The general suggestion, however, is that couples begin their research at least 6 months prior to the engagement or wedding. Take time to fully understand the intricacies of diamonds, and to evaluate what type of setting you’re looking for. You are making a considerable investment in a diamond and this investment will need to be safeguarded by the setting. And since an engagement ring will be worn daily and subject to the wear of everyday life, it will need to be sturdy and enduring. Platinum is the most enduring of precious metals, holding a diamond securely forever and not wearing down from daily wear like other metals. Ther

There are as many bridesmaid gift options as there are fish in the sea (I’ve seen it all, from underwear to goldfish to gift certificates for psychic readings). But I’ve found that the best presents tend to fall into one of three categories. Allow me to demonstrate:

1) THINGS YOU CAN WEAR

Cool idea: Jessica Kagan Cushman’s zodiac cuffs ($85 each). Match them to your bridesmaids’ astrological signs.

2) THINGS YOU CAN USE

Cool idea: RabLabs raw-crystal wine-bottle stoppers ($55 each). Give them with your favorite vino.

3) THINGS THAT ARE JUST PLAIN AWESOME (THAT YOU’D NEVER BUY FOR YOURSELF)

Cool idea: L’Objet’s gecko letter opener ($95).

As she began her quest for the right bridal gown, a recent bride said that she wanted something reminiscent of “Grace Kelly.” Before knowing any technical terms, or knowing whether she wanted “sleeveless” or “A-line,” she knew that she wanted her dress to speak of another era, though in an updated and modern way. These sentiments are not uncommon among brides today. Vintage wedding gowns, as well as vintage wedding shoes and vintage hairstyles, are so popular that many designers have completely transformed their fall and spring lines.

In 1956, Priscilla Kidder, the designer behind Priscilla of Boston, was commissioned to design the bridesmaids dresses for Grace Kelly’s wedding; other celebrity and high profile weddings soon followed, such as three Presidential daughters, Luci Johnson (‘65), Julie Nixon (‘68), and Tricia Nixon (’71). Using elements such

Okay, I have to be honest, I’ve never really been a fan of changing my name when I got married. However, when it came right down to it, it meant a lot to my now-husband and I think it will be easier when we have kids, etc. so I decided to take the plunge.

I started by enlisting the help of the site missnowmrs.com. It’s a great site that takes all of the guesswork out of changing your name. It gives you all of the forms you need to fill out, tells you where you need to send things, and what paperwork you need to send with your forms (like, you must send the original marriage license to the Social Security office, not a photocopy).

Things were going great: I had all of my forms filled out well in advance, and as soon as I had that marriage license, I was going to be well on my way . . . that was a year ago.

A few months ago (I was definitely procrastinating), I finally sent my papers to the Social Security office.

Wouldn’t this dress from Adam‘s Spring 2011 runway show make a beautiful wedding gown? It would flow and flutter in the breeze as you walked down the aisle. (And I love the bun!) (via Size Too Small)

If you’re not already familiar with Justine M. Couture, get yourself to their website immediately! They make some of the most amazing bridal accessories, from fabric hair flowers and fascinators to hats and veils — all at affordable prices. They’re perfect for the bride on a budget (no style sacrifice here!), whether you’re buying for yourself or your bridesmaids. One of my favorite things about Justine M. Couture’s pieces are the attention to detail: pearl accents, beading, and feathers adorn soft fabrics and tulle. Another? This sweet pillbox hat.

They also have a great selection of bridal jewelry, like the show stopper earrings below. And once you’ve worn these baubles, you can send them back to the company for more casual redesign. Turn-around times for rework are approximately four weeks but they can work with you to make it happen faster.
