In the last few years weve all sadly watched as many of the print magazines we love have disappeared from the news stands, but recently a new crop of gorgeous online mags have sprung up to fill our imaginations with inspiration once again! One of my personal faves is lifestyle and home decor publication Rue magazine. They brilliantly cover all aspects of stylish living and their pages are packed full of vibrant colors, lust-inducing products and creative ideas galore. I especially love their online galleries where you can search through the images from their various issues, and for wedding inspiration their “Entertaining” gallery has tabletop looks and and styles that are totally out of the ordinary.

Lets kick off today with a big hootin HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the one and only Fri!!!! Shes one of the hardest working women I know! Everyday shes on the grind creating unique, storytelling visuals of inspiration. Today I want to recognize and celebrate, in addition to her fashionista persona, a couple, amongst thousands, of ways in which she is a beautifully brilliant woman.

1: TELLING TASTE I think we can all agree that her impeccable taste has been a colorful anecdote for something as large as wedding planning to something as simple as a dull day.

2. HOPE HUNTER She not only dreams passionately big, but chases these hopes with a spunky bravery where you cant help but have faith in her.

BABY GOT BACK! And Im not referring to the song either.  About this time last year, I did a post on sexy backless dresses that were sure to turn heads down the aisle.  So it seems only appropriate that we continue our search for the best Baby Got Back numbers to look forward to this coming season, beginning with my favorite from Kenneth Pool. <

The Couple: Lauren and Parker

The Wedding: 4.10.10 – Temescal Gateway Park, Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, CA

What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Personal, joyful, vibrant

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? I think the style of our wedding just sort of naturally evolved, and as we chose different pieces, it really ended up exuding our personalities. There was a lot of imperfection, mismatched pieces, bursts of rich color and thrifted items collected over time – most pieces were very inexpensive and were recycled either when we got them or definitely after the wedding. We wanted it to feel really creative and fun, and be celebratory yet relaxed, so our guests could just enjoy themselves.

The couple: Annie and Kevin

The Wedding: 6.26.10 – Villa del Sol d’Oro, Sierra Madre, CA

What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Romantic, vintage, elegant

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? While browsing blogs (like Junebug!) and magazines, what called out to me the most were the vintage and romantic themed weddings. I also wanted our wedding to be outdoors for guests to experience the great southern California summer weather. This inspired me to DIY a lot of small and subtle details (lace wrapped votive candles, vintage sheet music for the candles and rose petal cones, personalized water bottle labels, tissue paper pomanders, flower monograms, etc.). I

The Couple: Joya and Emre

The Wedding: 3.26.11 – Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Unique, fun and heartfelt.

The feelings expressed on our wedding day, not only between Emre and myself but also from our friends and family, were all so incredibly warm and sincere. We really tried to personalize each aspect of our day and to think out of the box when it came to entertaining our guests.

Theres something simply breathe taking about field portraits. Find an acre of citrus-infused petals if you are so fortunate, and with one click, youve got the perfect back drop.  Fortune was well in abundance for todays real wedding couple, photographed by  Haley Shandro, to whom WN sends a spicy blogger shout out for sharing these images.  Enjoy!

Setting: Canada

Heroine/ Hero: Chinese Bride Catherine and her Canadian Beau Todd

SCENE #1: I DO, IN WHITE

SCENE #2: I DO, IN RED

Customary to traditional Asian weddings (including China), the tea ceremony is a symbolic gesture that the new couple makes to honor their parents.  In this case, Todd added a little humor to the event by addressing his mother-in-law in her native language.

Learning a greeting, a vow, or a portion of the reception speech in the native language of your in-laws or guests is a great way to make a lovely and memorable impression.

SCENE #3: WE DO

Part of the excitement in many Chinese weddings is the entertainment.  During the reception (typically  a lengthy and delicious sit-down dinner) guests are entertained in a series of games, usually hosted by an emcee.  In the case of Catherine & Todd, they warmed up their family and friends to a 10-course dinner along with the Shoe Game.

In the Shoe Game The bride and groom sit back-to-back at the front of the room (sometimes blindfolded). Each t
